What is “NOVUS”?

The name of Young Member Committee (YMC) of CIOB(HK) has been changed to “NOVUS”.

Novus Groups exist to prepare young people to be the next construction leaders, developing young professionals and providing peer support from their student days through to Corporate membership of the CIOB and beyond.

Who are NOVUS Members?

Young Members, i.e. Student Members, Incorporated Members and Corporate Members with less than 2 years’ post-qualification.

The main objectives of the NOVUS group are to

  1. 1. Liaise with educational institutes, training bodies and companies to raise awareness of the CIOB.
  2. 2. Promote the benefits of a professionally qualified workforce and assist in the recruitment of new CIOB members.
  3. 3. Provide a forum for younger professionals.  The hope is to encourage the CIOB’s future industry managers to network (socially and professionally) with their peers from different construction disciplines.
  4. 4. Provide a mentoring framework geared towards ICIOB, ACIOB and student/graduate members.
  5. 5. Identification of and invitation to key CPD and seminars beneficial to recent and aspiring members, and relevant to their role in the Construction Industry.
  6. 6. Provide a vehicle for current and prospective members to voice their views, and make suggestions to the main body of the CIOB.
  7. 7. Involvement of all NOVUS members in activities which raise the profile of the CIOB.
