FROM THE PRESIDENT – ALAN CRANE CBE I am aware that there may be concerns about the standards which the CIOB uses for assessing candidates for membership.  In a process that commenced in 2010, the Board of Trustees, following advice of the Education, Qualifications, Standards and Practice Board and following consultation and acceptance by the Members Forum has determined that to protect standards it is necessary to make changes to the professional review.

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) today released a new publication entitled entitled “Guidelines on Safety of Lift Shaft Works (Volume 2- During Lift Installation Stage until Issue of Occupation Permit and Handing Over to Developer)” (the Guidelines).  The Guidelines sets out the good practices recommended by the CIC covering this particular work stage for the industry to reference.
CMYA 2010 Exhibition in PolyU Two exhibitions of the Construction Manager of Year Award 2010 have been successfully held in Pacific Place and Housing Authority Headquarters in November 2011 by CIOB(HK), the subsequently exhibition tour is in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  We would like to cordially invite you to visit.

Please be informed that the Reciprocal Recognition Agreement(RRA) between The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) was reviewed in May this year and after the review, both institutions confirmed that the RRA would no longer be continued.

Our Vice President Dr. Billy Lee and Mr.Mickey Wong on behalf of CIOB (HK) attended the Congregation to convey our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ng.
