CIOB Hong Kong is an international branch of the Chartered Institute of Building, a UK-based leading professional institute for managers in the building and construction industries worldwide. Members of this local branch include top and senior company executives, site and project managers, consultants, researchers and academics. CIOB Hong Kong is very active locally and regularly organizes professional, educational, and social events for the benefit of all members and the society. Non-members are also very welcomed to join these activities.
The Hong Kong Branch, formed in 1973 and is the largest branch outside the United Kingdom with over 2,000 members.
Due to the rapid increase in membership of the CIOB outside the UK, CIOB International was set up in January 2001 for the purpose of delivering high quality services to the Institute's international membership. Besides Beijing and Johannesburg, a permanent office was established in Hong Kong in 2003. The CIOB(HK) Office is fully financed by the UK Headquarters. While we have got a strong back-up from the Headquarters, CIOB(HK) retains high autonomy in its local activities e.g. Annual events, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, Professional Interviews, liaisons with professional and government bodies, and other social gatherings etc.
