HKIE/CIOB Reciprocal Recognition Agreement
Agreement between the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building on Recipricol Recognition of Professional Qualifications
The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) are senior professional institutions with a common interest in raising standards of professionalism within the construction industry.
The HKIE is fully recognized by the Government of the HKSAR and through international reciprocity agreements by authorities under the Engineers Mobility Forum Agreement and the Washington Accord; the CIOB is incorporated by Royal Charter in the United Kingdom, with membership in over 90 countries, is recognized under the European Union and through international reciprocity agreements. Each institution/institute has significant membership in Hong Kong and accredit university courses in Hong Kong to equivalent standards.
The HKIE and the CIOB have exchanged information on their individual procedures, policies, criteria and requirements for granting Membership and have agreed that these are substantially equivalent.
By this Agreement the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) establish reciprocal recognition of requirements for Membership. Members of the HKIE in the Building Discipline and Members of the CIOB will be accorded corresponding Membership of the other on receipt of an acceptable application which satisfies specific requirements.
The forthcoming deadline for application from the HKIE members is 30th September 2007.
