The Hong Kong Branch, formed in 1973 and is the largest branch outside the United Kingdom with close to 2,200 members. 

Due to the rapid increase in membership of the CIOB outside the UK, CIOB International was set up in January 2001 for the purpose of delivering high quality services to the Institute's international membership. Besides Beijing and Johannesburg, a permanent office was established in Hong Kong in 2003. The CIOB(HK) Office is fully financed by the UK Headquarters. CIOB(HK) retains high autonomy in its local activities e.g. Annual events, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, Professional Interviews, liaisons with professional and government bodies, and other social gatherings etc.
